Community Involvement

The Casper Group: A Long, Proud Tradition of Touching Lives in the Community

David Casper has a long and distinguished history of community service. It began in 1985 when he founded the Ronald McDonald Celebrity Golf Tournament in Waconia, Minnesota. The tournament is an annual charitable tradition that continues to this day.

While living in California, David became deeply involved in a number Bay Area charities and community organizations. He served on the advisory board of the Bay Area ALS Association, which provides essential services to patients and their families. The association also supports leading-edge research in a quest for a cure.

The Casper Group also worked closely with the Easter Seals Association in California. David assisted the group with its Kaleidoscope Program, an after-school program that teaches independent living skills to young people with disabilities.

The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, California was another community group that benefited from David’s time and talents as a board member. The organization teaches special education programs in landscape design using plants that survive with reduced water sources.

David also chaired the advisory board of The Summit Bank Foundation, which recognizes and encourages corporate volunteerism in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The foundation works with the counties to support initiatives that create and foster financial literacy and other educational opportunities in public schools.

David’s notable community involvement also included the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. He also has a long history of offering support to various charities through fundraising efforts.

David Casper gained notoriety in athletics as a star for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football teams in the 1970s. He graduated cum laude from the school with a degree in economics. He remains close to the Notre Dame family.

In 1993, David was named to the GTE Academic Hall of Fame for Outstanding Career Achievement and Contributions to the Community. He also was one of only six to receive the 1999 NCAA Silver Anniversary Award for living a life of distinction.
